Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is real of most borders.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling hall, features one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel compound that contains a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
