Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is against the law. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect location, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are vague. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are supposedly required to pass, there are means around this, as is true of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel building that highlights a number of amenities on top of the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
