Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is against the law. Eight casinos are established in a relatively small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that features many luxuries in addition to the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
